Game Concept

We imagine beginning with a participatory design exercise involving 42 carefully selected people, drawing inspiration from the number in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. This is a symbolic and practical prototype for a Citizen Assembly that reflects a wide range of human perspectives across demographics and cultures.

Though perfect global representation is impossible with only 42 members, the intent is to start small with the principle of Radical Humility and expand responsibly. This pilot group’s main task is to develop a participatory approach for scaling up engagement — aiming eventually to involve billions by "growing at the speed of trust" rather than mimicking the rapid-growth models favoured by Silicon Valley.

- Recruit 42 diverse and thoughtful participants reflecting a planetary cross-section. - Begin with a modest scope but aim to scale through trust and real communication. - Prioritise authenticity and internal motivation over corporate or artificial influence.

# Inclusion of Non-Human Voices and Ethical Foundations We envision that the design process must also extend representation to non-human actors, such as the environment, specifically the voice of the oceans. This involves combining scientific data with human experiential knowledge and emotional connection to natural systems. The selection of participants must account for authenticity, capability, and integrity, avoiding artificial simulations or proxies for real excluded groups. We take care to differentiate between real, artificial and corrupted voices and to ensure that all voices, whether human or ecological, are properly constituted and legitimately represented. - Develop methodologies for representing non-human entities, such as oceans or forests. - Include individuals with relevant scientific, spiritual or community knowledge. - Avoid corrupted inputs or synthetic voices pretending to be authentic stakeholders.

# Building Systems and Ensuring Scalability This team of 42 must not only deliberate and theorise, but also build the actual components of what we call the Earth Operating System — the tools, archives and governance structures for planetary coordination. The process incorporates agile methodologies, Agentic Workflows, and open-source frameworks to ensure iterative growth, scalability and resistance to corruption.

Participants must engage not only in conversations but also in coding, documenting knowledge, and demonstrating software that is both functional and potentially legally binding. The growth model functions like a gnomic game — a form of game where changing its rules is part of the game itself — embedding evolution and responsiveness into its design. - Establish a Knowledge Archive and systems for guiding future deliberations. - Use agentic tools and agile methods to encourage iterative software and legal design. - Begin prototyping code and frameworks that can scale into planetary governance. - Treat the game itself as a live model with evolving rules – a Gnomic Game.
